Our Story
Metro Women’s Center was established in 1990 with the help of one small donation. We have been around for over 30 years and have witnessed many changes, but our heart to reach the women and families in our community has remained the same.
We actively promote and maintain the sanctity of human life by educating individuals about pregnancy alternatives so that informed decisions concerning the outcome of pregnancy may be made. We desire to do this by respecting the lives of both the mother and the child equally. We believe that the answer to a problem or unplanned pregnancy is not to abort the child but to seek alternatives that allow both parties to live. We are not a medical facility and do not refer for abortion services.
We serve women and their families through the following programs, which are accomplished without government funding:
- Hope Program, which provides baby items and other material resources
- Restore Center, which offers educational classes for both moms and dads on parenting, relationships, and a host of other topics; educational videos, personal advising, and spiritual support also provide needed assistance
- Acacia Fund, which is an in-house financial aid program that provides limited financial assistance to help with pregnancy-related needs
- Amazing Grace Home, which is a safe place for pregnant women over age 18 to live during their pregnancy
Our Vision
Our vision is to meet women and families where they are with compassion, respect, and the care they deserve. We believe that in doing so, we are fulfilling our calling to be the hands and feet of Christ in a world that so desperately needs God’s love and comfort. We desire to expand the support services we currently provide to reach even more women and families in our community. This is our heart’s desire because we know that when women who are facing unplanned pregnancies have emotional and material support, they are more likely to choose life for their babies.
Based in Faith and Compassion
We are an action-oriented, faith-based resource center that actively provides women with the services and support they need to choose life for their babies. We desire to show compassion to people and to share the love of Christ with our community. We are here primarily because we believe in the intrinsic value of human life, from conception to natural death. We desire to support women who are facing unplanned pregnancy situations and to show them that their life has infinite worth, and so does the life in their womb.
Our Services
Pregnancy Tests
Many women who think they might be pregnant are feeling overwhelmed, scared, and alone. This is why we offer free self-administered pregnancy tests. When a woman comes through our doors to take a pregnancy test, she is greeted by a caring team who are here to walk her through the process and go over her results. She will likely have questions, and we are here to answer them.
Ultrasound Referrals
If a woman receives a positive pregnancy test result at our center, we provide a free ultrasound referral. We do this because we know that women who see their babies on an ultrasound screen are more likely to choose life.
Options Advising
When a woman finds out she is pregnant, it can feel a lot like suddenly being lost in the dark without a flashlight. She does not know what path will lead forward. That is why we offer advice on options. During this supportive appointment, we let her know that she is not alone and that she has options. We give her medically accurate information and let her know that the choice about how to move forward is hers alone and that we are here to support her along the way. We are not a medical clinic, and we do not refer or perform abortions. We offer information on both parenting and referrals for adoption services.
